I often think about how people go through so many different experiences in life. Yet, not everyone grows wiser from them. Some gain wisdom, while others keep repeating the same patterns, facing the same outcomes, and often complaining about them.
Over time, I’ve reached the conclusion that just going through an experience is not enough. What truly matters is how we reflect on it — asking ourselves what we gained, what we learned, and what we let go of or lost. Reflection has to be deliberate; otherwise, experiences pass by without leaving much behind.
For me, reflection has become a conscious practice. When I sit with my experiences — both joyful and painful — they begin to shape me in new ways. Reflection helps me set boundaries, both for myself and for others. It helps me grow, expand my mental faculties, and strengthen my sense of self.
Experiences on their own are fleeting, but through reflection, they become lasting lessons. That is where wisdom lives — not in what happens to us, but in how we choose to engage with it afterward.
